A region rich in history
Upstate New York’s rich history can be seen in the number of museums and attractions throughout the area. Immerse yourself in a world of art, theater, history, science, and music – all within a few hour’s drive from the border!
National historical landmarks such as the George Eastman Museum sit right by the kid-friendly museums like the Rochester Museum and Science Center. Explore the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History in Chautauqua County, the Genesee Country Village and Museum in the Finger Lakes, and the Corning Museum of Glass just south of Rochester. Those are just some of the cultural destinations in our region – naming all of the museums in New York would be a historical endeavor in itself!
And while every season offers lots of cultural attractions, summertime is festival season in Upstate NY. The International Jazz Festival comes to Rochester every year and is an annual favorite, with popular arts and culture festivals abound in every county.
