Family Fall Favorites in Upstate NY!

My kids love fall. The start of a fresh school year, the anticipation leading up to Halloween, the fun colors and the numerous outdoor activities are looked forward to every year. It makes the end-of-summer blues much easier to deal with!

Living in Upstate New York, we are undoubtedly lucky at the amount of fun and beauty there is in Autumn. One of the things we look forward to the most is the Apple Tasting Tour in Wayne County, NY. The drive through the country roads are gorgeous by themselves -- the kids love to point out all of the beautiful colors of the leaves they see.

The apple tasting takes place in multiple places around the area, and lasts for the whole month of October-- which means we get to experience so many different events and delicious apples! The apple tasting weekend is October 7-10, which is an event that definitely can’t be missed, where the participating farms have special tastings, new baked goods, events and prizes.

Another fall favorite in our household are trips to the local farms. Every year, my kids ask us when they’ll get to go to Stokoe Farms. From the pumpkin patch to wagon rides to the farm animals, there is no surprise that this is a favored fall destination! After an exciting day full of activity, we always end it with delicious, fresh made apple cider donuts for the ride home.

Long Acre Farm, located in Macedon, NY, has New York State’s first corn maze, and one of the longest running in the world! Since the maze can be quite long, we love to spend a fun afternoon navigating it with family and friends. Laughing at the wrong turns and trying to figure out the puzzle is even more fun in a group!

As a native New Yorker, every season comes with its unique activities, but fall will always be our favorite. It’s the perfect time to plan your trip to New York State and see all it has to offer this time of year.
