Eating Light Before the Holidays

The start of the holiday season means the start of eating and drinking more than usual. For many, that also means that eating light leading up to the holidays is something to aim for. Well, lucky enough for anyone in the Rochester area, there are plenty of places to eat light! From soups to sandwiches, sushi to juices, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the city to make sure your craving is fulfilled.

The triple threat: soups, salads and sandwiches

Are you looking for a light meal, but you’re afraid you will still be hungry after? Grab a soup, salad or sandwich from Magnolia’s Cafe and Deli or Nathan’s Soup and Salad, and you won’t have that issue! Between Magnolia’s meal combo deals and over 40 varieties of soups at Nathan’s, there is plenty to choose from. Both restaurants have dine-in or takeout options available.

The other “s”: sushi

The Plum House and Shema Sushi both have a surplus of healthy, light items to choose from whether it is their rolls or noodles. Additionally, both places have lunch specials that include soup and/or salad.

One stop shop: eat and shop all at the same place

Do you plan on staying in Rochester for more than a few days? Get some healthy snacks at Hart’s Local Grocers and stop by their sandwich stop for a fresh, homemade meal. You can also stop by the Rochester Public Market for fresh produce and nearby cafes.

Grab and go: healthy juices

If you’re more of a juice person, try Just Juice 4 Life or Soul Juicin for Rochester’s take on healthy drinking. Whether you choose a juice, smoothie or powershot, these drinks will provide you with the right supplements and energy for your body.
