Allegany State Park (Salamanca Region)

Explore over 65,000 acres throughout rolling mountains. Mixed forests and meadows. 3 lakes. Many fishable creeks and ponds. Camp, hike, bike, swim, kayak, snowmobile, cross-country ski, fish and hunt. A campers’ paradise offering 424 campsites and 375 cabins including winterized vacation rental cottages. Letchworth State Park (From Portageville to Mt. Morris)

This is the "Grand Canyon of the East." In 2015, Letchworth won the Readers' Choice Award for Best State Park in the United States by USA TODAY! Gorgeous and majestic scenery. 3 major waterfalls are buttressed by cliffs and forests. Hike over 66 miles of trails. Horseback ride. Bike. Whitewater raft. Kayak. Snowmobile. Cross-country ski. Snow tube. There is a large swimming pool and hot air ballooning.

Hidden Valley Animal Adventure (Varysburg)

Wild Game Safari. Get up close and personal to over 400 animals representing 40 species from around the world in an hour-long guided trolley ride. Exotic animals include camels, zebra, llama, and bison. Each guest receives a cup of grain to feed the animals. On-site restaurant features seasonally inspired, farm-to-table menu selections.

Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge (Just south of Medina)

New York State's largest wildlife refuge! Well-maintained trails. A wonderful haven for animals. Watch migratory and resident birds. Two pairs of bald eagles have established nest sites on the refuge. Hunt, fish, canoe, kayak, hike, cross-country ski and snow-shoe. Open year-round.

Oak Orchard River and Harbor (Waterport to Lake Ontario)

A pleasant day launch for boater by motor, wind or muscle. Scenic and friendly. Full-service ports include pump out stations, lodging and restaurants. Good access to river stream fishing. The State Marine Park has a 4-bay public boat launch, picnic area and comfort stations. Kayak rentals for Lake Alice and the Oak Orchard River are available with or without shuttle service.
